Man charged with impaired driving
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Just before 3 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle stopped partially in the intersection of Middle Line and Charing Cross Road, even though the light was green.
The officer approached the vehicle and through investigation believed the man was driving while under the influence of a drug.
The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters where a Drug Recognition Expert conducted an evaluation.Â
As a result, the DRE officer believed the man was impaired by a drug.
Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of suspected fentanyl.
The 31-year-old man, of no fixed address, was charged with impaired driving, drug possession and driving while under suspension.
He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Break and enter in Chatham
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: This morning, shortly after 4 a.m. police responded to an alarm at Odds and Ends on Grand Avenue East.
Through investigation, police learned that unknown suspects had forced their way into the business, causing about $800 damage.
Once inside, the suspects stole WW2 medals and three trench knives.

Stolen truck from Stewart Line
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, around 10:45 a.m. unknown suspects stole a black 2013 Ford F-150 pick-up truck from the side of the road, while the owner was farming.
The truck was last seen with Ontario license plates 814 2FN.

Traffic enforcement
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, police conducted speed enforcement on Klondyke Road, Wheatley Road and Baird Avenue in Wheatley, with no infractions observed.
We would like to remind motorists that enforcement will continue across the Municipality, as road safety remains a priority for our Police Service.
