Driver arrested for fleeing across the border, assaulting officer

Lambton OPP officials allege: On October 23, 2021 at 11:45 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted by Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) regarding a vehicle that had fled the border crossing into Canada in Point Edward.

Prior to fleeing, the driver made intentional contact with CBSA vehicles.

Members of Lambton County OPP and Sarnia Police Service (SPS) attended the area and were able to locate the vehicle. The driver assaulted an officer while being placed under arrest.

A 41-year-old Indiana woman has been charged with the following:

– Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle,

– Mischief over $5000,

– Resist Peace Officer,

– Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon and,

– Assault with intent to resist arrest.

The accused has been held in custody following a bail hearing.
