Man charged with mischief

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, the man entered the home of family members without being invited or given permission.

The homeowners have asked the man several times not to attend their home.

While inside the home, the man prevented the homeowners from using their landline to call police.

Thankfully, they were able to use their cell phone to call for help.

The man fled prior to police arrival, however he was located a short time later and taken into custody.

The 41-year-old Chatham man was charged with criminal harassment and mischief.

He was released pending a future court date of December 1, 2021.

Man charged with criminal harassment

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police received information that a local man was harassing his ex-girlfriend via Facebook.

Last night, police located the man and he was taken into custody.

The 41-year-old Chatham man was charged with criminal harassment and released pending a future court date of November 23, 2021.

Break and enter in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Sunday, October 24 at 11 a.m. and Monday, October 25 at 8 a.m. unknown suspects entered a fenced compound on Colborne Street and smashed the window of a transport truck, causing about $700 damage.

Once inside the truck, the suspects stole a socket set, electronic log book and sweater.

Total value of the theft has been estimated at $3,300.

Theft of wire in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Saturday, October 23 around 5:30 a.m. unknown suspects entered a fenced compound on Merritt Avenue and stole electrical wiring.

Total damage was estimated at $500 with an additional $500 worth of materials stolen.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime over the weekend, unknown suspects entered a fenced compound on Queens Line and stole various tools and copper from a shed.

Total value of the theft has been estimated at $550.

Motor vehicle collisions

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a three vehicle collision on Bear Line Road between Pine Line and Maple Line.

One person was transported to hospital as a precaution.

Total damage was estimated at $15,000.

A 59-year-old Chatham man was charged with making a turn not in safety.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Park Avenue East near Park Lane in Chatham.

One person was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Total damage was estimated at $15,000.

A 29-year-old Chatham woman was charged with careless driving.
