Chatham-Kent’s 24th COVID-19 death confirmed

Chatham-Kent’s 24th COVID-19 death has been confirmed.

Jeff Moco, a spokesperson for CK Public Health, told the Sydenham Current the death was a woman in her 50s, who died in a hospital outside of Chatham-Kent.

Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit officials also updated the ‘current status’ page of their website on Tuesday, November 9, 2021.

The active COVID-19 case fell to 45, two less than on Monday.

Public health officials say 72.7% of the active cases are unvaccinated, 14.6% are fully vaccinated, 7.1% are partially vaccinated, 3.3% are unknown and 2% are not yet protected. These figures are as of October 30, 2021, public health officials say.

One person with COVID-19 from Chatham-Kent remains hospitalized.

The total number of COVID-19 cases is 2,807 across Chatham-Kent, one more than on Monday.

A total of 2,738 cases have been resolved.

A total of 22 active cases are linked to close contact, 13 cases are unknown, five cases have information pending and five cases are outbreak related.

Public health officials say two outbreaks are active across Chatham-Kent:

– An outbreak at an un-named workplace, declared on November 5, 2021, involves five cases.

– An outbreak at Chatham Christian School, declared on October 30, 2021, involves three cases.

CK Public Health officials say the Delta variant continues to be the predominant circulating variant of concern in Chatham-Kent and Ontario.

“The majority of current cases among people living in CK have initial mutation screening results in line with the Delta variant,” public health officials added.

Public health officials say a total of 152,063 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to date, 79,642 people 12+ have received at least one dose and 75,736 people 12+ have received two doses.
