Active COVID-19 case count at 52 in Chatham-Kent

Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit officials updated the ā€˜current statusā€™ page of their website on Friday, November 12, 2021.

The active COVID-19 case rose to 52, six more than on Wednesday.

Public health officials say 73% of the active cases are unvaccinated, 15% are fully vaccinated, 7% are partially vaccinated, 2.8% are unknown and 2.1% are not yet protected. These figures are as of November 6, 2021, public health officials say.

Two people with COVID-19 from Chatham-Kent are hospitalized.

The total number of COVID-19 cases is 2,825 across Chatham-Kent, 13 more than on Wednesday.

A total of 2,749 cases have been resolved.

A total of 24 active cases are linked to close contact, 19 cases are unknown, five cases have information pending and four cases are outbreak related.

Public health officials say two outbreaks are active across Chatham-Kent:

ā€“ An outbreak at an un-named workplace, declared on November 5, 2021, involves five cases.

ā€“ An outbreak at Chatham Christian School, declared on October 30, 2021, involves three cases.

CK Public Health officials say the Delta variant continues to be the predominant circulating variant of concern in Chatham-Kent and Ontario.

“The majority of current cases among people living in CK have initial mutation screening results in line with the Delta variant,” public health officials added.

Public health officials say a total of 153,151 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to date, 79,895 people 12+ have received at least one dose and 76,369 people 12+ have received two doses.

Since the pandemic began in March of 2020, a total of 24 Chatham-Kent residents have died from COVID-19.
