Man charged with break and enter

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday around 5 p.m. police responded to a break and enter at a business on King Street West in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man forced his way into the business and stole several bottles of alcohol while smashing another bottle.

With the assistance of an observant citizen, officers identified the man responsible.

He was located a short time later on Wellington Street West.

The 31-year-old man, of no fixed address, has been charged with break and enter while committing a theft and mischief under $5,000.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with driving while under suspension

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Just before 1 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol observed the man driving on Park Street in Chatham.

The officer recognized the man, who is known to be suspended from driving, for unpaid fines.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and the man was arrested.

The 29-year-old Chatham man was charged with driving while under suspension.

He will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on January 5, 2022.

His vehicle was towed from the scene.

Traffic stop leads to Highway Traffic Act charge

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: This morning around 1:30 a.m. an officer on general patrol initiated a traffic stop on McNaughton Avenue East between Victoria Avenue and Elizabeth Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, the officer learned that the woman was driving while under suspension.

The 19-year-old woman was charged and will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on December 1, 2021.

Her vehicle was towed from the scene.
