Postma Heating and Cooling launches coat donation fundraiser for the Salvation Army

Postma Heating and Cooling, a Chatham-Kent company, is calling on the community to assist in keeping everyone warm this winter.

With these unprecedented times, there is a major need for winter coats for those less fortunate.

Already in the business of keeping warm, Postma wants to do more.

There is a greater demand than ever for winter coats for those less fortunate, and this is where the idea stemmed from.

For every winter coat that is dropped off to Postma Heating and Cooling, you will receive a ballot to enter their draw to win a free furnace, installed at no charge.

Postma has kicked it off by purchasing the first 50 coats to donate.

To help drive community participation, they are offering a free furnace, installed, to someone who steps up and donates a coat as well.

“We live in a fantastic community, with so many wonderful people,” stated Caleb Postma, owner of Postma Heating and Cooling, in a media release.

“Our business is about keeping people warm and comfortable. We were going to make our donation and we thought, how can we do more? That’s when the idea came to us, why not up the ante and get everyone involved. A little incentive and the good people of Chatham-Kent will get out and support. Sometimes people just need a little reminder, and what better reminder than a big prize. We are going to donate all of the coats to Salvation Army Chatham to help boost Operation Coverup’s 2021 numbers. And, if you know someone else in need of a furnace, you can simply put their name on the ballot and pay it forward.”

Stephen Holland, Community Services Officer for The Salvation Army Chatham-Kent Ministries says everyone feels the bitter cold of winter, but most people have warm clothing to wear.

“Yet in Chatham Kent there are men women and children who go about their day without even a warm winter coat,” Holland said in a media release.

“Last year we helped close to 800 people with winter coats, boots, hats, and gloves. And we expect more will need help this year. But this is only possible because of people in our community who give away good new or gently used winter coats. It’s because of donations from Companies like Postma Heating and Cooling and our community partners and individuals that we all can make a difference in people’s lives. After doesn’t everyone deserves to be warm.”

The fundraiser kicks off November 16 and runs until 3 pm on December 3.

The draw for the furnace will take place at the Postma office.

Donations can be dropped off at Postma Heating and Cooling, on Charring Cross Road by the 401 over pass.

Company officials say people will receive a ballot to fill out on the spot to fill out.

Every coat gets you one ballot.
