It’s time to start putting up your holiday lights.
Last year, hundreds of local homes and businesses shared the beauty of their outdoor holiday decorations through Light Up Chatham-Kent, a community-wide initiative showcasing the different streets and areas decorated for the holiday season.
Through Let’s Talk Chatham-Kent residents are encouraged to place location pins on a map, as well as add a photograph of their decorations.
Residents and visitors can use the mobile-friendly map on their phones as they drive or walk around Chatham-Kent.
Residents placing a pin on the map will be entered into the “12 Days of Christmas” contest for a chance to win a gift card from Canadian Tire.
They will also be entered into the “Best Light Display” contest.
The “Best Light Display” contest starts December 1st and community voting of displays will run from December 13-19th.
A gift card to Canadian Tire will be given to the top three displays with the most votes.
The Best Light Display and the “12 Days of Christmas” contests are sponsored by the Canadian Tire stores of Chatham, Wallaceburg, Tilbury and Blenheim.
Many communities and organizations are participating this year: Buxton Next Generation, the Buxton National Historical Site & Museum, Dresden Shines, Friends of Blenheim Historic Downtown Chatham BIA, as well as the Tilbury Light Festival and Wallaceburg’s Christmas Lights Tour.

Those viewing the displays are asked to respect private property and use COVID-19 protocols.
