Community Living Wallaceburg receives $3,000 from anonymous donor

Community Living Wallaceburg has received a generous $3,000 gift from a community partner, who wishes to remain anonymous.

The gift will go towards the renewal of the Agency’s Snoezelen Multi-Sensory Room, which was installed approximately 14 years ago.

While the room does provide therapy for many of the people they support, the majority of the equipment has become dated and worn out.

The renovations will include amazing, leading-edge and engaging sensory products such as a Milky Way carpet, fiber optic enclosure, teardrop beanbag chair, yogibo max, interactive aroma panel and a wiggle seat sensory cushion.

“The enthusiasm and generosity of our community since the first announcement about the renovations of the Snoezelen Room have been wonderful, and something to be grateful for, as we approach the giving season,” said Deborah Hook, Executive Director of Community Living Wallaceburg, in a media release.

“Not only will the updated space provide more opportunities for the people the Agency supports; the renewal and planned community expansion of the multi-sensory space will allow more people from the community to benefit from this unique resource.”

The anonymous donor said they are happy to be able to support this “important project” and to give back to Community Living Wallaceburg.

“In recognition of the excellent work that they do for the community,” the donor added.

“We look forward to the positive impact that this renovation will bring to the community for years to come.”

While larger gifts help fund the purchase of equipment, Community Living Wallaceburg also needs support from community members and corporate sponsors to assist with expanded operational costs, training, and sustainability of the space.

Hook added the new Snoezelen Room and all the gifts in support of the project will “have a direct impact on the quality life of children, young adolescents, adults and seniors across Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton.”

To date, $5,000 has been raised for Community Living Wallaceburg’s Snoezelen Room.
