November 25th marked both the “International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women” and first day of the “Sixteen Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” worldwide.

“One in three women will experience violence in their lifetime. Over the last year in Ontario, femicide rates have increased substantially. Every loss to gender base violence is one too many,” says Executive Director, Karen Hunter, in a media release.

“Together we must end gender-based violence.”

“It’s so important what you, the volunteers, and other service-based groups do. I look forward to the day when your services are no longer needed,” Mayor Canniff said in a media release.
