Public Health pleading with residents to be on increased alert of COVID-19

With the steep rise of positive cases across Chatham-Kent, CK Public Health is urging the public to be on heightened alert when it comes to halting the spread of COVID-19.

Public health officials say the Health Unit’s case management team, which has been working around the clock, has reached their capacity and a further increase in workload will be unmanageable.

“We are doing our best to control the spread of this virus, but we need our residents to step up and increase their diligence to help prevent overloading of our local healthcare capacity,” stated Dr. David Colby, Chatham-Kent’s Medical Officer of Health, in a media release.

CK Public Health asks that residents avoid all social gatherings if they are not feeling well, having symptoms of any kind or have any reason to believe that they might have been exposed.

“This is a very clear request. Vaccination helps greatly, but regardless of your vaccination status, if you are not feeling well, do not leave your home or invite other people into your home,” Colby added.

Residents looking to further protect themselves and their families by receiving their COVID-19 vaccine can do so at www.GetYourShotCK.ca or by calling 519-351-1010.

Appointments are available for all CK residents born in 2016 or earlier.

Stay up to date and informed on the local COVID-19 situation by visiting www.CKPublicHealth.com frequently and making sure to follow @CKPublicHealth on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Dr. Colby also released a letter on Monday, December 6, 2021, which provides instructions regarding capacity limits & additional requirements.
