Disturbance leads to arrests

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a disturbance in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that both men threatened each other while arguing outside.

A 33-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with uttering threats.

He was released pending a future court date of January 11, 2022.

A 26-year-old Blenheim man was arrested and charged with uttering threats.

He was released pending a future court date of January 11, 2022.

Man charged with theft in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to Shoppers Drug Mart on Queen Street in regards to a shoplifting complaint, as the man concealed several items in his coat and left the store without making any attempt to pay for the merchandise.

An officer on general patrol located the man a short distance away and as he was placed under arrest, he fled on foot.

The man was taken into custody following a short foot chase.

Through investigation, police learned that this was the third time that the man had stolen items from the store over the weekend.

The 33-year-old Chatham man has been charged with three counts of theft under $5,000, three counts of being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and escape lawful custody.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Motor vehicle collision

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Oxley Drive near St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Minor injuries were reported.

Total damage was estimated $50,000.

A 48-year-old Blenheim man was charged with failing to signal a lane change and operating a motor vehicle with no insurance.

Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE)

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Friday night, police conduced a RIDE spot check in Dresden, Ridgetown and Chatham.

A total of 277 vehicles were stopped and checked with no infractions observed.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind motorists that Festive RIDE Programs will continue in an effort to ensure everyone has a safe and happy holiday season.

Warrant in Tilbury

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On December 11, 2021 a 27-year-old Tilbury man was located and arrested on strength of a Chatham-Kent Police warrant for failing to attend court.

He was transported to CKPS headquarters where he was processed and held for bail.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On December 11, 2021 a 21-year-old Chatham man was located and arrested on the strength of a Chatham-Kent Police warrant for failing to attend court.

He was transported to CKPS headquarters where he was processed and held for bail.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On December 11, 2021 a 56-year-old Chatham man was located and arrested on the strength of a Chatham-Kent Police warrant for failing to attend court.

He was transported to CKPS headquarters where he was processed and held for bail.

Impaired/refusal in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On December 12, 2021 a 47-year-old Chatham woman was arrested for impaired after a driving complaint was received. 

She was brought to the station for breath tests where she refused to provide a proper sample. 

She is charged with impaired and failure to comply with demand.

She was later released with a court date of January 4, 2022.
