KFA holds AGM, hands out awards & scholarships

The Kent Federation of Agriculture held it’s 2021 Annual General Meeting in the Derby Room at the Retro Suites in Chatham on Tuesday, December 8th, 2021.

Board elections resulted in the acclimation of Jay Cunningham as Board President, along with Brad Snobelen and Bill Parks as Vice Presidents for the 2022 year.

Filling out the slate of Directors for 2022 are Jim Brackett, Ken Dawson, Ron Faubert, Paige Handsor, Peter Jennen, Harry Lawson, Derrick Leclair, Steve Piche, Eric Prelaz, Louis Roesch, Mike Vannieuwenhuyze and Mary Anne Udvari.

The Ed Campbell Memorial Award for Director of the Year was presented to Bill Parks while the Meritorious Service Award for contributions in Agriculture went to Harry Lawson.

Scholarship winners Alec Cameron and Hanna Reid both received $1,000 toward their education in agriculture.

An informative talk on Trees and Woodlots in Chatham-Kent was given by KFA Executive Director, Ron Faubert, followed by guest speaker Greg Van Every who outlined many of the initiatives completed, ongoing and upcoming by the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority.

Tim Dick and Brigan Barlow from the Municipal Drainage, Waste and Management department spoke in a town hall style often interacting with the audience and answering questions on Drainage issues in Chatham-Kent.
