Police: Warrants executed in Wallaceburg, domestic, crash in Wheatley

Warrant arrest

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a theft complaint at Walmart in the town of Wallaceburg.

Police located a female in the area matching the suspect description.

Police information revealed she was currently wanted for failing to attend court.

The 52-year-old Wallaceburg woman was arrested and later released with a future court date.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police received information that a male currently wanted by the Chatham-Kent Police Service on two outstanding warrants for; armed robbery, assault and utter threats, was in the area of Margaret Avenue and Dora Drive in Wallaceburg.

Police attended the area and the male fled on foot.

A short foot pursuit ensued and the male was arrested.

The 36-year-old Wallaceburg man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Domestic disturbance leads to arrest

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: In October, 2021, a female was arrested for assaulting her then boyfriend.

She was released from custody with a number of conditions including not to communicate with the victim.

Last night, police were called to a residence on Queen Street in Wallaceburg.

Through investigation police learned the two were at the residence together.

An argument broke out and the male attempted to leave.

The female blocked the door and refused to move.

The male turned away and was going to use an alternative exit when the female grabbed the victim’s sweater and pulled it back, causing him to lose his balance.

The 28 year-old Wallaceburg woman was arrested and charged with; forcible confinement, assault and failure to comply with an undertaking.

She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Collision on Wheatley Road

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Wheatley Road.

Police determined that the female driver had lost control on the icy road putting her vehicle into a ditch.

She was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Damages is estimated at $30,000.
