Neighbour dispute leads to arrest

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a neighbour dispute in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that a verbal argument between two men escalated into a physical altercation.

A 47-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault and mischief under $5,000 for damaging his neighbour’s cell phone.

He was released pending a future court date of February 9, 2022.

Stolen dirt bikes in Ridgetown

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime yesterday morning, between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. unknown suspects forced their way into a garage on Harold Street and stole two dirt bikes:

– blue 2021 Yamaha

– 2003 Kawasaki KX65

Break and enter in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 4 a.m. this morning, police responded to an alarm at City Electric Supply on Richmond Street.

Upon arrival, officers observed that the glass in the main entrance door had been smashed.

Total damage has been estimated at $1,000.

Police continue to work with the owner to determine, what if anything, was stolen.

Motor vehicle collisions

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Keil Drive between Industrial Street and Park Avenue in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and struck a hydro pole.

No one was injured.

Total damage was estimated at $8,000.

The 35-year-old Chatham man was charged with careless driving.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a fail to remain collision on Zone 7 Road between Fairfield Line and Zone Centre Line in Bothwell, as a pick-up truck was found to have struck a hydro pole and no one was around the vehicle.

Total damage has been estimated at $20,000.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Longwoods Road between Huffs Side Road and Kent Bridge Road, where the driver responsible for the collision, left the scene.

Officers located the vehicle on Victoria Road near Fysh Line and a traffic stop was initiated.

The driver, a 52-year-old Chatham man, was arrested and charged with driving while under suspension, careless driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

He was released and will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on February 9, 2022.
