The 35th COVID-19 death has been reported in Chatham-Kent.
Jeff Moco, a spokesperson for the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit, told the Sydenham Current the most recent death was a man in his 60s, who died at a hospital outside of CK.
Also, CK Public Health and the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance officials released the latest COVID-19 data in the community on Monday, January 17, 2022.
Hospital officials say there are 31 COVID-19 positive patients at the Health Alliance overall, all Chatham-Kent residents.
CKHA officials say 15 of the 31 patients are unvaccinated and the average age of the COVID-19 positive patients is 73-years-old.
The ICU at the hospital is at 70% occupancy on Monday and four ICU patients are COVID-19 positive.
Six ventilators are in use in the ICU, with four of those patients being COVID-19 positive, hospital officials say.
CKHA officials say 65 staff are off due to COVID-19 exposure.
CK Public Health officials say 215 new COVID-19 cases were reported over the weekend, increasing the total number of cases to 5,215 since the pandemic began.
Public health officials say the current seven day rolling average case count (average number per day) sits at 67.

– An outbreak at Park Street Place in Dresden, declared on January 12, 2022, involves 17 cases.

– An outbreak at an un-named group home, declared on January 10, 2022, involves 12 cases.
– An outbreak at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s Dialysis Unit, declared on January 10, 2022, involves four cases.
– An outbreak at Copper Terrace (2N) in Chatham, declared on January 10, 2022, involves five cases.
– An outbreak at Riverview Gardens (4E & 2W) in Chatham, declared on January 10, 2022, involves seven cases.
– An outbreak at an un-named group home, declared on January 7, 2022, involves eight cases.
– An outbreak at St. Angela’s Meadow Retirement Lodge in Chatham, declared on January 4, 2022, involves four cases.
– An outbreak at Wallaceburg Retirement Residence, declared on January 4, 2022, involves 12 cases.
– An outbreak at Hudson Manor in Tilbury, declared on January 3, 2022, involves 26 cases.
– An outbreak at Tilbury Manor Nursing Home, declared on January 2, 2022, involves five cases.
Public health officials say a total of 200,464 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to date, 84,397 people 5+ have received at least one dose, 79,391 people 5+ have received two doses and 39,336 5+ have received three doses.
