With the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine supply “slightly more stable” in Chatham-Kent, public health officials say its availability is being expanded.
“We have recently received word from the Ministry that the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine supply across the province is now slightly more stable than it previously was,” CK Public Health officials said in a media release.
“CK Public Health is now able to provide the Pfizer vaccine for individuals aged 30+, although the supply remains limited.”
Public health officials say on December 18, 2021, the Ontario Ministry of Health put in place recommendations to preserve the limited availability of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to only those between 12-29 years of age.
Residents are reminded that both Moderna and Pfizer are safe, effective and interchangeable mRNA vaccines that provide a high level of protection against the COVID-19 virus, public health officials say.
“As we are still dealing with a decreased supply of Pfizer, appointments for residents aged 12+ are required and can be made online at www.GetYourShotCK.ca or by calling 519-351-1010 and leaving a voicemail message for a call back, CK Public Health officials say.
“Walk-In appointments are still being accepted for youth aged 5-11, but they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.”
Public health officials added vaccination continues to the be the most important public health measure to keep yourself and your loved ones safe.
“If you are eligible for a dose, please take action to book an appointment as soon as you are able,” CK Public Health officials added.
“Please do not attend any vaccine appointment or clinic if you are not feeling well. If you are unable to attend your vaccine appointment, it is important that you cancel your appointment so that we are able to offer your time slot to another resident in need. Anyone who has recently tested positive for COVID-19 is asked to book an appointment once your isolation period is complete and you are no longer symptomatic.”
