Pair charged with theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night around 8 p.m. police responded to a shoplifting complaint at the LCBO on Wellington Street in Chatham.

The pair were located a short distance away and taken into custody.

A 26-year-old Chatham man was charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date of February 16, 2022.

A 29-year-old Merlin woman was charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

She was also charged with being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and trafficking property obtained by a crime in connection with a break and enter at Access Storage on Richmond Street in Chatham, previously reported on January 26, 2022.

She was released pending a future court date of March 2, 2022.

Woman charged with breaching curfew

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, police located a woman on Park Avenue West in Chatham who was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Through investigation, police learned that the woman was also bound by a curfew.

A 28-year-old Chatham woman was arrested on the outstanding warrant and additionally charged with failing to comply with her release conditions for breaching her curfew.

She was released pending a future court date of March 2, 2022.

Man charged with impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 2 a.m. this morning, police responded to the report of a suspicious vehicle on Green Line in Howard Township.

Officers located the vehicle and through investigation believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

A 23-year-old Ridgetown man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He was released pending a future court date of February 11, 2022.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, police conducted traffic enforcement on Mill Street West in Tilbury.

Seven motorists were stopped and charged with speeding.
