49th COVID-19 death reported in Chatham-Kent

The 49th COVID-19 death has been reported in Chatham-Kent.

Caress Lee Carpenter, a spokesperson for CK Public Health, says the most recent death was a man in his 60’s.

He died in a hospital out of the area, Carpenter added.

CK Public Health officials say 29 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Wednesday, increasing the total number of cases to 6,139 since the pandemic began.

A total of nine people are hospitalized for COVID-19 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, public health officials added.

The current seven day rolling average case count (average number per day) sits at 46.

Public health officials say six outbreaks are active across Chatham-Kent:

– An outbreak at an un-named group home, declared on January 26, 2022, involves 30 cases.

– An outbreak at an un-named group home, declared on January 25, 2022, involves two cases.

– An outbreak at Fairfield Park in Wallaceburg, declared on January 24, 2022, involves 10 cases.

– An outbreak at St. Andrew’s Residence in Chatham, declared on January 21, 2022, involves 15 cases.

– An outbreak at Village on the Ridge in Ridgetown, declared on January 17, 2022, involves 41 cases.

– An outbreak at Park Street Place in Dresden, declared on January 12, 2022, involves 31 cases.

A total of 210,147 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to date, 84,787 people 5+ have received at least one dose, 80,452 people 5+ have received two doses and 46,450 5+ have received three doses.

CK Public Health announced on Monday they have opened their COVID-19 vaccination clinics to walk-ins for all Chatham-Kent residents aged 5+ who are looking to receive their 1st, 2nd or booster dose.

Starting Monday, CK Public Health opened their Bradley Centre Clinic, located at 565 Richmond Street in Chatham, to walk-in appointments.

Public health officials say walk-ins will be accepted up to a half hour before each clinic closes.

Residents who are looking to ensure a specific appointment time are encouraged book in advance at www.GetYoutShotCK.ca or by calling 519-351-1010 and leaving a message for a call back.

All appointments previously booked will be honoured.

Upcoming Bradley Centre Clinics offering the COVID-19 vaccine will take place:

– Thursday, February 4, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

– Saturday, February 5, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

– Monday, February 7, 1:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

– Wednesday, February 9, 1:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

– Thursday, February 10, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

– Saturday, February 12, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Public health officials say walk-in clinics remove barriers and provide additional convenience for those still looking to get their COVID-19 vaccine.

CK Public Health and RideCK have also extended their partnership to provide free public transportation for anyone travelling to or from a COVID-19 vaccine clinic until the end of February.
