Three more COVID-19 deaths reported in Chatham-Kent

Three more COVID-19 deaths have been reported in Chatham-Kent.

Jeff Moco, a spokesperson for CK Public Health, says the most recent deaths were two women in their 80s and a man in his 90s.

A total of 56 Chatham-Kent residents have died from the virus since the pandemic began in March of 2020.

CK Public Health officials say 65 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Wednesday, increasing the total number of cases to 6,609 since the pandemic began.

A total of eight people are currently hospitalized for COVID-19 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, public health officials added.

The current seven day rolling average case count (average number per day) sits at 29.

Public health officials say three outbreaks are active across Chatham-Kent:

– An outbreak at Meadows of Wheatley, declared on February 14, 2022, involves nine cases.

– An outbreak at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s Medicine Unit in Chatham, declared on February 11, 2022, involves three cases.

– An outbreak at an un-named group home, declared on February 7, 2022, involves two cases.

A total of 213,030 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to date, 85,042 people 5+ have received at least one dose, 81,250 people 5+ have received two doses and 48,179 5+ have received three doses.
