Delwood Wayne Blackbird, a member of Walpole Island First Nation, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Friday, March 25, 2022 at the age of 74.
Delwood is the son of the late Kingsley and Betty Jane (Blackbird) Sands. Loving father of Charmaine Johnson (Jason), Misty Dawn Johnson (Nathan), Shaunna Jo Johnson and the late Nina Jacobs-Kiyoshk and Dion Jacobs.
Dear grandfather of 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Brother of Frank Shipman Jr., George, Bernadette, Dexter and Jan Blackbird, Marna Williams and the late Beverly White, Dwain and Sam Blackbird and Lionel Sr. and Steve Sands.
Fondly remember by his children’s mother Sherry Johnson.
Family and Friends are invited for visitation at Delwood’s home, 391 Austin Road, Walpole Island on Sunday and Monday.
The funeral will be held at the Walpole Island Sports Complex on Tuesday, March 29 at 11 AM. Burial to follow at Highbanks Cemetery.
