Vehicle stop leads to driving charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: An officer observed a man operating a motor vehicle on Park Street in Chatham.

The man had been released previously and was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle.

The man was stopped and placed under arrest.

He was transported to Chatham-Kent Headquarters and charged with four counts of failing to comply with a release order and prohibited driving.

He was released with a future court date of May 27, 2022.

Disturbance leads to impaired and assault with weapon charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A man was attempting to hit people with a hammer in the area of St. Clair in Chatham.

The man fled in his vehicle and was stopped by officers who responded the area.

The man was found to have been consuming alcohol and was arrested and taken to Chatham-Kent Headquarters.

The man was charged with impaired operation, 80 plus assault with a weapon and possession of weapons dangerous.

He was released with a future court date of May 18, 2022.

Break and enter in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Over the past week unknown suspects entered a residence on Victoria Street in Chatham.

When inside a EVI drum set was taken valued at over $3,500.
