Disturbance leads to weapon charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Saturday morning, police responded to a disturbance between two men, known to each, in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that a 37-year-old man was stabbed with a knife, during the altercation.

He was transported to hospital where he was treated and released.

Last night, a 23-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He was released pending a future court date of June 8, 2022.

Man charged with assault with a weapon

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Saturday night, police responded to a disturbance between two men in a parking lot in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that a 29-year-old man was assaulted with a baseball bat.

He was transported to hospital for medical attention of non-life threatening injuries.

A 29-year-old Chatham man has been arrested and charged with assault with a weapon.

He was released pending a future court date of June 8, 2022.

Man charged with theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a theft from vehicle complaint in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that an unknown man entered a vehicle in a parking lot in Chatham and stole various items.

With the assistance of video surveillance, police identified the man and he was located within the hour.

The 32-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000.

He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with his release conditions.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Just before 2 a.m. this morning, police responded to a collision on Communication Road.

Through investigation, the officer believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The man was arrested and transported to OPP HQ for breath tests.

A 29-year-old Blenheim man has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He was released pending a future court date of May 18, 2022.

Man charged with mischief

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 4 a.m. this morning, police responded to the report of a suspicious man on Sass Road in Chatham.

Upon police arrival, the man fled on foot, however was taken into custody a short distance away.

Through investigation, police learned that the man damaged a vehicle by attempting to steal the catalytic converter.

A 51-year-old Chatham man was charged with mischief under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date of June 8, 2022.
