Man arrested for impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 5 p.m. yesterday evening police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Annett Road near Lambton Line in Dawn Euphemia township.

Information was received that a Grey Jeep was in a ditch and the lone male driver was outside the vehicle.

He appeared to have no injuries.

Police arrived at the collision scene and located the man.

Officers believed the man was operating the motor while under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested and transported to police headquarters for further breath tests.

Through investigation police believed this vehicle and the driver matched the description of that reported in two other collisions.

The first was reported at 3:53 p.m. and occurred on Holden Street in Dresden.

The second was reported at 4:40 p.m. and occurred on Lamila Street in Thamesville.

In both collisions the Grey Jeep left the scene.

A 40-year-old Chatham man was charged with impaired driving and two counts of failing to remain at the scene of a collision.

He was later released with conditions and a future court date of June 28, 2022.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, members of community patrol conducted a traffic enforcement blitz on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg.

As a result, three motorists were issued Provincial Offense Notices for speeding.

Traffic enforcement leads to numerous charges in Erieau

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: The Chatham-Kent Police and Ontario Provincial Police set up a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program in the area of Erieau on the weekend.

Numerous vehicles were stopped and drivers spoken with.

Several charges under the Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence and Control Act were issued.

17 Provincial offences, seven summonses, two breath demands and one vehicle was towed.

The Chatham-Kent Police will be conducting RIDE programs across the Municipality of Chatham-Kent as the summer approaches and remind drivers to make alternate arrangements.

Driving complaint leads to impaired charges on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A vehicle driving erratically in the area of McNaughton Ave Wallaceburg.

A citizen called 911 and provided the information of the vehicle.

The vehicle was located in a parking lot of a local business.

The driver was placed under arrest and transported to Chatham-Kent Headquarters.

A Wallaceburg woman was charged with Operation while Impaired and operation while impaired 80 plus and released with a future court date of May 24, 2022.

Man charged with threatening in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A man made threats to a resident in their building heard by other tenants.

The man was located and spoken with by police.

The man was placed under arrest and transported to Chatham-Kent Headquarters.

The man was charged with uttering threats and released with a future court date of June 3, 2022
