Essex Kent Junior Farmers have been keeping busy

By Nic Willemsma – Special to the Sydenham Current

April was a busy month for the Essex Kent Junior Farmers.

We started the month holding an SMV sign exchange at the Essex Peavey Mart on April 2, where farmers could bring their old beat-up signs and get a new shiny one for only $5.

Thanks to the support from the Essex county federation of agriculture, we were able to replace 38 signs.

Our second event was a joint social event in London on April 9.

We joined members from Huron-Perth and Middlesex clubs for an afternoon of bowling and socializing.

We held our monthly meeting to finish the month, followed by some axe throwing and dinner at a local restaurant in Chatham.

Junior Farmers’ Association of Ontario (JFAO) provides opportunities for young people aged 15-29 of all backgrounds, but especially those in rural Ontario, to take on the challenge of exploring their individual talents and potential to develop personally while being involved in bettering their communities, networking, and having fun.

Members across the province have the opportunity to participate in exchanges with several countries, as well as provincial sport, cultural, and skills competitions.

For more info on JFAO, email us at Essexkentjf@gmail.com, find us on Facebook or Instagram, or go to jfao.on.ca.
