Mass COVID-19 vaccine clinics winding down in Chatham-Kent, one new death reported

As CK Public Health hosts their final mass vaccination clinic next week, residents are encouraged to book their COVID-19 vaccine through their local pharmacy.

“Most pharmacies book appointments ahead of time and some allow walk-ins, as well,” stated Alyssa Bunning, manager with CK Public Health.

“It’s a very convenient option for our local residents and one we encourage using.”

Those looking to book their vaccine through a local pharmacy can find full details about a specific location online at www.covid-19.ontario.ca/vaccine-locations or by calling their local pharmacy directly.

The mass vaccination clinic, which is run out of 730 Richmond Street in Chatham, will host its final clinics on the following dates:

– Saturday, May 28 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

– Tuesday, May 31 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

CK Public Health will still be offering COVID-19 protection through various community pop-up clinics across Chatham-Kent.

Pop-Up clinics currently available for both booking and walk-ins, include:

– Chatham Active Lifestyle Centre – 20 Merritt Ave, Chatham on Friday, June 3 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

– Salvation Army – 46 Orangewood Blvd, Chatham on Monday, June 6 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit provided the latest COVID-19 statistics in the community on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.

One new COVID-19 death was reported on Wednesday.

A total of 76 Chatham-Kent residents have died from the virus since the pandemic began in March of 2020, public health officials say.

CK Public Health officials say 66 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Wednesday, increasing the total number of cases to 8,677 since the pandemic began.

Two people are hospitalized for COVID-19 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, public health officials added.

The current seven day rolling average case count (average number per day) is at nine.

Public health officials say nine outbreaks are active across Chatham-Kent.

A total of 225,298 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to date, 85,193 people 5+ have received at least one dose, 82,276 people 5+ have received two doses and 50,719 people 5+ have received three doses.

CK Public Health officials say as of the week of May 1 the Chatham-Kent COVID-19 Surveillance Report will be updated once per week on Wednesdays by 11 a.m.
