Fred Pandel of Wallaceburg passed away peacefully at the CKHA in Chatham on Friday, May 27, 2022 at the age of 86.
Fred is the son of the late Hans and Helena (Herrmann) Pandel.
Dearly loved husband of Theresa (Trudell) (Blondia).
Loving father of Monica Seawright (Rick), Marion Pandel-McFarland, Mark McFarland (Connie Brooks), Wendy Suisham (Rick), Karen Van Kessel (Wayne Capiau), Pam Blondia (Rob MacLachlan) and father-in-law to Patti Blondia.
Dear grandfather of 14, and great grandfather of 8. Brother-in-law to June Smith (Alfred Hart).
Predeceased by his brother Achim Pandel, son Lee Blondia, granddaughter Robin Seawright, 5 sister-in-laws, one brother-in-law and special cousin, Peter Herrmann.
A long time resident of Wallaceburg, he was known by many as ‘Fred from Delta’ after managing Delta Electric for 28 years, where his remarkable intelligence and memory provided a great service to the community.
His finesse in making wine, rum pot, jam, rouladen, and pickled asparagus, along with his dry sense of humour will be missed by family and friends.
The family would like to extend its gratitude to the caring staff at Oak’s Retirement Village and to the staff at CKHA that cared for Fred with such compassion in his final hours.
Fred’s family and friends are invited for visitation at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Tuesday, May 31st.
The funeral will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 1st at 11 am. Interment at Riverview Cemetery will be held at a later date.
The family has requested that masks be worn at the funeral home. If desired, donations to the Salvation Army (Wallaceburg) or the Heart & Stroke Foundation may be left at the funeral home by calling 519.627.3231.
