Five-foot python snake rescued, multi-unit dwelling fire under investigation in Chatham

A multi-unit dwelling fire in Chatham is currently under investigation.

Fire officials say crews from Chatham Station #1 and Station #2 attended 70 Timmins Crescent on Sunday night, June 12, 2022, just after 9:30 p.m., for reports of a fire in an apartment of a four-unit building.

“All occupants were able to escape without injuries including a five-foot python snake, which firefighters extricated safely,” fire officials said in a media release.

“The fire was contained to the one unit. Chatham-Kent Police are currently holding the scene and the OFM has been called to assist with the investigation.”

No other details will be released at this time, fire officials added.
