Man arrested for bail violations

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 8:36 p.m., police were asked to check on the well-being of the man lying in the grass at Lions Park on Steward Street in Chatham.

Police arrived and learned the man was on a condition to be inside his residence between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The man was arrested and released with a future court date.

At 11:42 p.m., police responded to a suspicious person complaint on Wilson Avenue in Chatham.

The homeowner told police the man knocked on their door and went to their backyard when they didn’t answer.

Police attended and found the man in the neighbour’s backyard.

The man was found in violation of his curfew condition again.

The 63-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with an undertaking and trespassing at night.

He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning at 12:41 a.m., police were notified of the man seen walking southbound on Sandys Street in Chatham.

The man appeared to be disoriented, walking on and off the roadway.

Police attended and learned on April 22, 2022, the court had placed the man on a Conditional Sentence Order.

The man was to remain in his residence at all times with particular exceptions.

He was transported to the hospital for medical attention.

Once he was cleared medically, the man was arrested for breaching a conditional sentence order.

The 27-year-old Chatham the man was transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing.

CKPS facilities now open to the public

In response to the pandemic, the Chatham-Kent Police Service restricted public access to our facilities.

Upon review of the public health guidelines that order has been rescinded.

All Chatham-Kent Police Service facilities are now open to the public.
