Man arrested for assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, at 10:09 a.m. police responded to a disturbance on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg.

Through investigation police learned the man became upset and engaged in a verbal argument with three people when they arrived to conduct a scheduled inspection on the man’s apartment.

The three people left the apartment before completing the inspection.

As the people walked away the man followed.

The man spat in the face of one, took another person’s hat and threw it at the third person, striking them in the face.

The three victims continued to walk away.

The man then removed his pants and exposed his buttock to the victims.

The 44-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with theft, two counts of assault and three counts of indecent acts.

He was transported to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date of August 3, 2022.

Man arrested for bail violations

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On June 7, 2021 and March 3, 2022, the man entered into Probation Orders with conditions, including not to attend within 100 meters of a woman.

Shortly after 5 p.m. police received a complaint the man was violating his conditions by attending the woman’s residence on Queen Street in Chatham.

Police attended the woman’s residence and found the man.

The 29-year-old Raleigh Township man was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with a Probation Order.

He was transported to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date of July 26, 2022.

Man arrested for impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday at 10:48 p.m. while emergency crews had a portion of Grand Avenue East in Chatham closed for a motor vehicle collision, a vehicle was observed entering the scene at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle screeched to a halt inside the perimeter.

Officers approached the vehicle and spoke with the driver.

Officers believed the driver to be under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested.

The man was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

A 28-year-old Chatham man was charged with having a blood alcohol level exceeding the legal limit as well as offences under the Highway Traffic Act, Cannabis Control Act and Liquor License Act.

He was later released with conditions and a future court date of July 12, 2022.
