Gerald Trembley

It is with great sadness that we must bid farewell to Gerald Joseph Trembley (Jayce to close family and friends, Jerry to co-workers), born in Wallaceburg in 1958.

He passed away peacefully with his wife by his side, her hand on his heart, at Chatham Kent Health Alliance on Friday, July 1, 2022 at the age of 64.

Jayce is the son of the late Gerald Oscar (Wayco) & Julia Bernice (Foster) Trembley.

Beloved husband of Synthia Bernice (Labadie).

Loved step-father of James Bolos (Alison) and Sophia Bolos (Charlie).

Dear Papa of Adrianna and Emmett.

Brother of Brenda Griffith, Tom Trembley (Evie) and Dan Trembley (Tammy).

Son-in-law of the late Virginia DeMeyer and late Walter Labadie.

Dear friend of the late Frank Ricicca, whom he loved to beat in a game of billiards.

He will be sadly missed by several brother and sister in-laws.

He held a special bond with Lisa and Dennis and cousins Jody and Al.

Remembered by his many nieces & nephews.

Jayce and his two brothers were known around town as ‘The Trembley Boys’, but to their dad, they were simply the Scum Buckets. Wayco always said “Don’t tell me what to do, I don’t like it” which the boys would use to their own defense constantly. The mischievous brothers could be heard playing music for blocks around the neighbourhood, and even had Bernice shoo the police away after a noise complaint saying “You leave my boys alone”.

Jayce began his career at Waltec Faucets where he remained until its closure. He was a proud member of Millwright Local 1244 Windsor and retired as a Journeyman Millwright on his 60th birthday.

Jerry lived by the Millwright slogan “We do it with precision”, utilizing his extensive knowledge in many areas around the house, his vehicles, his yard and his new man cave, ‘the Seahouse’. The vehicles were always maintained on schedule, ensuring oil changes were done on time, tire pressures were on par, and they were hand-washed top to bottom. The Seahouse was Jayce’s retirement project and became a place to host family and friends over the last few years.

He was highly respected amongst his industry peers, coworkers and friends, many of whom he kept in contact with after retiring. They remember him as being a gentleman, a great teacher, and someone they looked up to.

“He was awesome to me over the years and a great friend” one buddy wrote. Another shared “Jerry was the best foreman I’ve ever had and even a better friend…had discipline like my father and also one of the funniest guys I’ve met.” Jayce was a man of few words, but was full of one liners and Seinfeld quotes that would crack anyone up.

Jayce spent countless hours helping James at Fiesta Restaurant and James Street Eatery. From laying on his back installing plumbing to weathering the coldest day on the roof to fix the exhaust blower, James remembers being taught “Do it right the first time.”

Jayce also extended his help and knowledge to Sophia via text messages and photos, asking her to take pictures of their current renovation so he could inspect it and ensure it was done properly.

Papa Jayce absolutely adored his grandkids. He loved spending time with Adrianna, breaking out of his shell to play with dolls or let her play doctor where Jayce would end up wrapped in a blanket and covered in a dozen band-aids. He always mentioned ‘she is so smart’ and that ‘she’s a doll and she knows it’. Since Emmett’s birth in October of 2021, Jayce had a big spot in his heart for him. He would always say “Look at that face, he’s just so cute” and referred to Emmett simply as ‘Grandson’. Papa Jayce expressed his sadness in knowing he wouldn’t get a chance to see his grandkids grow up.

Jayce and Synthia enjoyed travelling together. For their Honeymoon they visited Las Vegas, and in later years went to the Mayan Riviera, Florida and the Thousand Islands, to name a few. When not travelling afar, they could often be found cruising in the Cadillac to neighbouring communities and beach towns, taking in local shops and restaurants. They loved to dine out and explore new establishments.

They also shared a passion in upkeeping their property. It started more than two decades ago as a treed lot, which they transformed into their backyard oasis, adding a pool, gardens, modifications to the house and the family-famous Seahouse.

Family and Friends are invited for visitation at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Wednesday, July 6. A private celebration of Jayce’s life with burial in Riverview Cemetery will be held at a later date. If desired, donations to the CKHA Cancer Clinic may be left at the funeral home 519.627.3231. Shared stories and tributes may be left on Jayce’s tribute wall at www.CavanaghFuneralHome.ca.
