Don’t delay kindness

From The Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin

How many times have you found yourself saying something like, “I should really give so and so a call” or “I am way overdue to pay a visit to so and so.”

Our intentions are good but procrastination and busy schedules sometime snuff out the following through of what we know should get done.

I think it’s important to view kindness and doing good as an essential, instead of an option.

If that’s the case, then we will be more apt to carry things out.

Listen to this wise advice found in Proverbs 3:27-28: “Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act. Do not say to your neighbour, “Come back later; I’ll give it tomorrow” – when you now have it with you.”

I don’t need to remind you that our world needs kindness – and lots of it – NOW!

I know a couple who married later in life but are making up for lost time.

They decided to get married during the pandemic because they didn’t want to wait any longer.

He recently shared some photos of a very special day they spent together celebrating their 8-month anniversary.

My friend treated it like it was a milestone because he wanted his wife to know that you don’t always get a tomorrow to show love and kindness.

If your neighbour’s lawn needs cutting, cut it.

If a “just because” card needs to be sent, then send it.

If a visit to your aging parent is overdue then get in the car and drive over there!

Time is not always on your side, so take advantage of today to spread a little of God’s love around.
