Woman arrested for theft
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday at 4:41 p.m., police attended the boardwalk on King Street West in Chatham for a theft complaint.
Police learned the owner of a boat docked at the boardwalk returned to find the woman taking property from the boat.
The woman stayed on the scene until police arrived.
The 39-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was arrested and charged with theft and possessing stolen property.
She was released with a future court date of August 17, 2022.
Man arrested for break and enter
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night at 10:48 p.m., police attended Margaret Avenue in Wallaceburg for a break and enter complaint.
Through investigation, police learned the man was seen entering a detached garage on the property.
Police arrived on the scene and called the man out of the building.
The man presented himself and was arrested.
The 32-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with breaking and entering.
He was transported to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date of August 17, 2022.
Man and woman arrested during disturbance
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, at 4:10 a.m., police responded to a disturbance on Taylor Avenue in Chatham.
Upon arrival, police located multiple people outside of the address.
Through investigation, police learned the woman and the man were engaged in a verbal argument that escalated when the man threw the woman to the floor and prevented her from leaving a room.
After a third person intervened, the woman left the room; the man followed and assaulted her.
Police also learned the woman was bound by a release order not to communicate with the man and wanted on an outstanding warrant.
The 19-year-old Wallaceburg woman was arrested on the outstanding warrant and charged with failing to comply with a release order.
The 22-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault and forcible confinement.
They were both transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
