Police: Two arrested for robbery in Chatham, disturbance, family dispute

Police respond to disturbance

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Thursday afternoon, police responded to a disturbance at a business on Wellington Street in Chatham where a man was running up and down the aisles yelling and shouting. 

The man exited the business and ran across the street into another business. 

While in the second business, the man continued to yell and shout. 

Officers located the man and he was arrested. 

The 31-year-old Chatham man was charged with causing a disturbance and released from custody pending a future court date of August 30, 2022.

Family dispute leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Thursday afternoon, police responded to a family dispute in Chatham. 

Through investigation, police learned that the woman damaged four windows at her mother’s residence. 

The 22-year-old Chatham woman was located a short distance away and arrested. 

She has been charged with mischief under $5,000 and released from custody pending a future court date of August 30, 2022.

Two charged with robbery in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Thursday night, police responded to a robbery on Lorne Avenue in Chatham as a 25-year-old man was struck with a small bat while the suspects stole his bicycle and a bag containing his phone. 

Through investigation, police identified the men responsible and they were arrested. 

An 18-year-old Chatham man was charged with robbery and obstruct peace officer, after falsely identifying himself to police. 

He was released from custody pending a future court date of September 13, 2022. 

A 19-year-old Chatham man was also charged with robbery. 

He was released from custody pending a future court date of September 16, 2022.
