2022 Walpole Island election ballot set

The ballot is set for the upcoming election on Walpole Island First Nation.

Seven candidates are vying for the position of Chief, including:

– Steven Amaro

– Mark Day

– Faye Johnson

– Lee Kicknosway

– Dan Miskokomon

– Alexandre Nahdee

– Charles Sampson

A total of 27 candidates are vying for one of the 12 spots on Band Council, including:

“Any persons on the Walpole Island Band Registry and is 18 years of age or older as of September 17, 2022 is eligible to vote,” Walpole Island officials posted on social media.

There will be two options for people to vast their votes this year, including a mail-in ballot or voting on election day between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.

“For on-reserve resident members, if you are not available to vote in-person, arrange for a mail-in ballot by contacting me,” said Veronica McLeod, the electoral officer, on social media.
