Man arrested on an outstanding warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to the report of two suspicious men in the area of Centre Street in Chatham. 

Officers located the men and through investigation learned that one of the men were wanted for failing to comply with his Probation Order.

The 36-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released with a future court date of September 19, 2022.

Man arrested in Ridgetown

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, police responded to a theft complaint at a business on Main Street in Ridgetown as a local man stole a bottle of alcohol. 

The man then walked towards a residence on Harold Street and threw a shop vacuum at a vehicle. 

The man continued towards a building on Cecil Street, where he damaged a scooter and window. 

Officers located the man and he was taken into custody. 

The 35-year-old Ridgetown man was charged with theft under $5,000, being in possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and two counts of mischief under $5,000. 

He was released from custody pending a future court date of September 26, 2022.

Man charged with impaired operation

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a possible impaired driver in the area of Richmond Street in Chatham. 

Officers located the vehicle and through investigation believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol. 

The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests. 

The 60-year-old Blenheim man was charged having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. 

He was released from custody pending a future court date of September 12, 2022.
