Police: Fraud warning issued, truck stolen in Ridgetown

Truck stolen from Ridgetown

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Sunday morning, a 2016 white Ford F-250 was stolen from a business on Industrial Road in the town of Ridgetown.

At the time it was stolen, the truck had Ontario marker BC63470 attached to it.

The side of the truck had ‘Great Lakes Door Systems’ on it.

Fraud Warning – Carbon Tax Credit Scam

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: The Chatham-Kent Police Service have received reports of suspicious phone calls that claim to offer Carbon Tax Credit.

The victims are asked for their personal financial information in order to deposit the credit into their account.

Warning Signs

– Calls offering government related tax benefits.

– Unsolicited calls requesting personal and banking information.

– Unsolicited calls asking you to confirm personal and financial information.

– Don’t give out personal information

Beware of unsolicited calls where the caller asks you for personal information, such as:

– Your name

– Your address

– Your birthdate

– Your Social Insurance Number (SIN)

– Your credit card or banking information

If you did not initiate the call, you do not know who you’re talking to.
