TBT: Jordan Durston selected by Vancouver Stealth in 2015 NLL Draft

Throwback Thursday is sponsored by Oaks Retirement Village:

Wallaceburg’s Jordan Durston had his name called back in the 2015 National Lacrosse League Draft. Here is our story from September 28, 2015:

Wallaceburg’s Jordan Durston is heading to the pro’s.

The Wallaceburg Lacrosse product and two-time Minto Cup champion with Six Nations was drafted in the second round, 19th overall, by the Vancouver Stealth in the 2015 National Lacrosse League (NLL) draft.

The 21-year-old was thrilled with the news.

“Super thrilled to be drafted by the Vancouver Stealth,” Durston told the Sydenham Current. “I’m really excited to start training camp and compete for an active roster spot.”

Durston said he wasn’t 100 per cent sure where he would be drafted to, until he heard his name called on Monday evening.

“I wasn’t really sure where I was going to go,” he said. “I talked a bit with the GM from Vancouver so I kinda had a feeling I was going there, but pumped to be apart of Vancouver’s organization.”

Durston said he is looking forward to heading to training camp at the end of November.

The Stealth were quick to social media to welcome Durston to the club.

“We are pleased to select lefty Jordan Durston from Six Nations,” the Stealth posted on Twitter. “Welcome to the franchise Jordan!!”

Durston was the first player taken by the Vancouver squad, who did not have a first round pick.

The Stealth finished with a 5-13 record last year, the second worst in the entire NLL and last in the West division.

Durston helped the Six Nation Arrows capture back-to-back Minto Cup wins as Canadian junior ‘A’ lacrosse champions.

In the latest playoff run Durston was third in team scoring with 16 points, leading the team with 12 assists.
