OPP officials allege: On Monday, September 19, 2022, at approximately 7:30 a.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Elgin County Detachment were contacted by the Chatham-Kent Police Service after officers located a deceased individual on Highway 40, in Chatham-Kent.
The identity of the deceased is not being released pending notification to next of kin.
West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team are continuing to investigate.
Highway 40 is closed between Pine Line and Eberts Line and the closure is anticipated to last for the next eight hours to allow for further investigation.
Investigators are looking to speak to any member of the motoring public that may have observed an individual walking along Highway 40 between Pine Line and Eberts Line between 5:30 a.m., and 7:30 a.m.
