We don’t always sit in front of our computers all day. Last Wednesday, some of us traded our desks for a day-out at the Colchester Harbour filming a video on the volunteerism of one of our staff: Jim Oakley is a District Director at the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary Unit in Colchester and has been involved in numerous rescues which saved many lives. Jim and his crew are on call 24/7 for rescues of people on disabled vessels, missing people searches and medical calls. The majority of their calls come in the dark of the night, weekends and during severe storms.
As a mutual insurer, supporting communities through volunteer work is what we love doing. We want to make a difference and help others to do the same. That is why we are excited to donate $1,000 to the Colchester Guardian Rescue operations.
