OLG issues second quarter payment to C-K for hosting the casino in Chatham

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has made the second quarter (July 1 – September 30) payment totaling $435,233 to the Municipality of Chatham-Kent for hosting Cascades Casino Chatham.

OLG officials say so far, during OLG’s fiscal year (April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023), Chatham-Kent has received $859,006.

Since a gaming site opened in Chatham-Kent in April 2001, the Municipality has received $15,312,937.

These payments to host communities are based on a formula consistently applied across all gaming sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site, OLG officials say.

“Revenue from OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreements supports host communities so they can invest in programs and services that benefit everyone, from neighbourhood parks to local festivals,” said Peter Bethlenfalvy, Minister of Finance, in a media release.

“These payments help to improve the quality of life and make Ontario a vibrant and exciting place to live, work and play.”

OLG officials say they are proud to share proceeds of casino gaming with local communities, contributing to economic recovery, infrastructure development and job creation.

Payments to host communities are part of OLG’s commitment to Ontario, as 100% of OLG’s profits are reinvested in the province.

Over the past seven years, service providers have invested an estimated $1.8-billion in private sector capital investment across the province, OLG officials say.

Since 2017, these investments have led to the development and opening of six new casinos, with one under construction, one planned development and additional gaming expansions.

Since 1994, host communities have received almost $1.9-billion in non-tax gaming revenue.
