The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) and Premier Doug Ford will be holding separate news conferences this morning, November 7, 2022, as a labour dispute continues across Ontario between education support workers and the Province.
Premier Ford will be joined by Stephen Lecce, Minister of Education, for media availability on “CUPE’s disruption to classrooms”, Provincial officials say.
Ford and Lecce will be speaking from Room 247 of the Legislative Building at Queen’s Park in Toronto, starting at 9 a.m.

Meanwhile, the national president of CUPE will be joined by national and provincial labour leaders to talk to journalists “about the growing fightback against the Ford government’s Bill 28”, CUPE officials say.
CUPE officials say the press conference, will be focused on “Bill 28 fightback and protecting workers’ fundamental rights”, will start at 10 a.m. at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel.
Mark Hancock, national president, CUPE; Bea Bruske, president, Canadian Labour Congress; Patty Coates, president, Ontario Federation of Labour; and leaders of private and public sector unions are expected to speak.
In the meantime, the local school boards announced on Friday that schools would shift to online learning this week.
