40 employers taking part in upcoming career fair

Over 40 local employers from across C-K will be at the Chatham-Kent Community Career Fair on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at The Chatham Armoury.

Municipal officials say this community-wide event, hosted by Chatham-Kent Economic Development, will feature some of CK’s premiere employers in fields such as healthcare, IT, skilled trades, agriculture, and manufacturing.

There will be representation from large companies as well as smaller businesses, all of whom will be offering both full-time and part-time career opportunities.

“This event is about bringing better career opportunities to people in our community,” said Spencer Pray, Economic Development Officer and event co-organizer, in a media release.

“We’ve invited employers from key fields throughout CK offering many different types of career options. There will be everything from entry-level positions to management positions; we’ll positions in skilled trades, hospitality, healthcare, you name it. If you’re looking for a new career, or to upgrade your current career, this event is for you.”

Hosted in partnership with Maple Industries and the Goodwill Career Centre, the latter will be on site offering a two-part presentation called ‘Interviewing for Success’ which involves learning about interview preparation, etiquette, best practices, and follow-up techniques, Municipal officials added.

“We’ll have some employers that are looking to host interviews directly on site, so people can come with their resume, dressed for success, and walk out of there with tangible leads on great employment,” said Rosemarie Montgomery, Economic Development Officer and event co-organizer, in a press release.

Mayor Darrin Canniff says Chatham-Kent is booming.

“We’re seeing businesses in Chatham-Kent continue to expand and grow, and as that happens, they have more roles to fill,” Mayor Canniff said, in a press release.

“We’ve been hearing employers talk about needing workers and this event is about facilitating those career connections. Economic Development is taking action to help fill those critical roles by hosting an event where employers and employees can make a great first impression on one another.”
