CKHA welcomes three new physicians to their Hospitalist program

Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) has announces the addition of three new physicians to the organization.

Dr. Garrett Mosey, Dr. Diondra Miller and Dr. Areej Alvi will be joining the Hospitalist program at CKHA.

“We are very pleased to welcome our new physicians to our clinical team and the community of Chatham-Kent,” said Dr. Pervez Faruqi, Chief of Staff, CKHA, in a media release.

“Their contributions to our programs and services will be a great addition to CKHA and help us further our commitment to delivering Patient and Family Centred Care.”

Dr. Garrett Mosey attended the University of Guelph and earned his Biomedical Science, Honours with Distinction.

He received his Doctor of Medicine with Schulich School of Medicine, Western University.

After practicing as a Hospitalist at Woodstock General Hospital for the past six years, Dr. Mosey has joined CKHA to work as a Hospitalist, CKHA officials say.

Dr. Diondra Miller joins CKHA after completing the Honours Bachelor of Science in Microbiology & Immunology program at Dalhousie University in Halifax.

From there, she earned a Doctor of Medicine with first-class honours at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

She moved back to Canada to complete Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Toronto.

“I’m looking forward to being part of a smaller community,” Dr. Miller said, in a press release.

“Coming from Toronto there are so many people and different walks of life, it is obviously the same here, but it is just nice to be a part of a smaller place and I am really looking forward to that.”

Dr. Areej Alvi attended the University of Toronto and received a Bachelor of Science, Honours in 2013.

She later earned a Doctor of Medicine from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Dr. Alvi returned to Ontario to complete Family Medicine Residency training at the University of Ottawa.

She completed an additional year Hospitalist Fellowship with Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

After practicing as a Hospitalist for Trillium Mississauga Hospital for the past two years, Dr. Alvi decided to join CKHA.

“I am so grateful for the warm welcome I have received at Chatham-Kent and am very excited to join the Hospitalist team at CKHA,” said Dr. Alvi, in a media release.

“My husband worked in Chatham for years, and I am thrilled to move to this area with him and my son. I am really looking forward to serving the Chatham-Kent community.”
