Spirit of the Sixties performance cancelled on December 17. Planned for Spring.

Special to the Sydenham Current

Organizers say the concert will be a chance to put on your dancin’ shoes, forget about your troubles and rock this coming spring in a really fun way.

The evening is also working as a fundraiser and net proceeds will help the CBD continue to make the same valuable contribution to the community that it has since its founding in 1950.

The Club has a proud past in Wallaceburg and has worked hard to make the community a better place to live and raise a family.

Spirit of the Sixties have quickly established a reputation for playing a unique variety of songs from the decade of love.

They have played a series of sold out shows over the last year or so and have always delivered a really fun time.

Tunes like No Time and No Sugar Tonight by the Guess Who, Get Back, Come Together and While My Guitar Gently Weeps by the Beatles, Gimme Shelter and the Last Time by the Rolling Stones, music by the Monkees, the Turtles, the Mammas and Pappas, Thunderclap Newman, Steppenwolf and more.

The band has a strong Wallaceburg connection.

Guitarists Bill Morrow and Zach Stenton are from Wallaceburg as are vocalists Becca Gardiner and Kim Sterling and bassist John Gardiner.

Dan Taylor on vocals, Jerry Gregson on drums and Steve Kubica on keyboards round out the band.

Spirit of the Sixties’ previous shows have been compared to 1960’s pub nights or high school dances from that era.

“The dance floor has usually been full when we get rolling,” said bassist John Gardiner.

“It’s just a really fun band and a way to relax for an evening with friends.”

Tickets are $20 and are available from band members or at the bar at the CBD.
