Police: Fraud, theft, warrant, fail to attend court

Woman arrested on outstanding warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 7:08 a.m., the woman attended Chatham-Kent Police headquarters and turned herself into the police.

The 20-year-old Chatham woman was wanted for a bail violation and was held pending a bail hearing.

The court released the woman with conditions and a future court date of January 18, 2023.

Man arrested for fraud

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On November 16, 2022, police responded to a theft complaint at a McNaughton Avenue East business.

Through investigation, police learned the man had stolen $4,000 in tools and cheques from the business.

A cheque had been forged and attempted to be cashed at a local bank.

On December 8, 2022, police located and arrested the man.

The 34-year-old Chatham man was charged with theft, possession of the stolen property, fraud and uttering forged documents.

He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of January 16, 2023.

Woman arrested for failing to attend court

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On November 3, 2022, the woman was arrested and charged with a theft.

She was released with conditions and a future court date.

When the woman did not attend her court date, a warrant was issued for her arrest.

On December 8, 2022, at 11:55 a.m., the 38-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was located and arrested.

She was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

The court released the woman with conditions and a future court date of January 18, 2023.
