OPP: Multiple speeding charges laid on the 401

OPP officials allege: On December 5, 2022, at approximately 9:41 p.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle travelling westbound on the Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, after it was found speeding 175 Km/h in a posted 100 Km/h zone.

The driver, 29-year-old of Windsor, Ontario was charged with Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – Excessive speed contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

OPP officials allege: On December 9, 2022, at approximately 10:23 a.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle travelling westbound on the Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, after it was found speeding 168 Km/h in a posted 100 Km/h zone.

The driver, 80-year-old of Kitchener, Ontario was charged with Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – Excessive speed contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

OPP officials allege: On December 11, 2022, at approximately 5:38 p.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle travelling westbound on the Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, after it was found speeding 168 Km/h in a posted 100 Km/h zone.

The driver, 28-year-old of Maple, Ontario was charged with Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – Excessive speed contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Anyone charged with Drive motor vehicle – Perform Stunt receives a 14-day impoundment of the involved motor vehicle and a 30-day driver’s licence suspension as per statute.
