Stunt driving charges laid in a Chatham school zone

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: This morning at 9:38 a.m., a CKPS Traffic Unit officer conducted a traffic stop on McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham after observing a vehicle speeding in a Community Safety Zone (School Zone).

The Community Safety Zone has a posted speed of 40 km/hr.

The speeding vehicle was registered at 90 km/hr, 50 km/hr over the posted limit.

The 19-year-old Carlisle, Ontario, man was charged with stunt driving and issued a summons for court.

His vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for 14 days.

The man’s driver’s license was also suspended for 30 days.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind people to obey the posted speed limits and the rules of the road.
