Child exploitation charges laid in Chatham-Kent

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: In October 2022, the Chatham-Kent Police Internet Child Exploitation unit received a complaint of a male attempting to solicit explicit images from a teenage female through fake social media accounts.

It was believed that the suspect resided in Chatham-Kent due to his knowledge of the area.

Through various investigative techniques, the man was identified and arrested.

On January 26, 2023, the 40-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with luring a child to make child
pornography and luring a child to commit sexual interference.

He was transported to police headquarters and later released on multiple conditions and a future court date.

No further information will be released to protect the victim’s identity as the investigation is ongoing.
