OPP: Speeding charges and traffic infractions

OPP officials allege: On January 30, 2023, at approximately 11:14 p.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle travelling on Highway 40, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, after it was found speeding.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 25-year-old of Chatham, Ontario was charged with:

– Speeding 1 – 49Km/h over posted limit

– Drive motor vehicle – no licence

– Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

– Fail to surrender insurance card

OPP officials allege: On February 1, 2023, at approximately 8:34 a.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle, after it was found speeding on the Eastbound Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 33-year-old of Brantford, Ontario was charged with:

– Speeding 1 – 49 Km/h over posted limit

– Driving while under suspension

– Driver fail to surrender licence

OPP officials allege: On February 1, 2023, at approximately 11:37 a.m., the OPP was notified that an individual, known to have a suspended driver’s licence, was seen driving away from the parking lot of the Chatham Provincial Offence Office on Communication Road.

Members of the Chatham Detachment conducted patrols and located the vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 45-year-old of Ridgetown, Ontario was charged with:

– Driving while under suspension

– Driver fail to surrender licence

OPP officials allege: On February 4, 2023, at approximately 9:35 p.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle travelling on the Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, after it was found speeding 162 Km/h in a posted 100 Km/h zone.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 27-year-old of Windsor, Ontario was charged with the following:

– Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – Excessive speed contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

OPP officials allege: On February 4, 2023, at approximately 9:43 p.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a commercial vehicle travelling on the Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, after it was found speeding 122 Km/h in a posted 100 Km/h zone.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 28-year-old of Kitchener, Ontario was charged with:

– Drive commercial motor vehicle not equipped with working speed-limiting system

– Speeding 1 – 49Km/h over posted limit

Additionally, the commercial vehicle operator, a company from Calgary, Alberta was charged with:

– Permit operation of commercial motor vehicle not equipped with working speed-limiting system
